NBC celebrates the 4th of July by presenting it’s annual “MACY’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” with such "CURRENT" and "RELEVANT" performers as Lionel “All Night Long” Richie and Liza “New York, New York” Minnelli. The talent was booked to ensure that NBC attracts a youthful demographic. Also added to the allstar line-up are such contemporary artists as Shields and Yarnell, The Captain and Tennille and Carol Channing.

Aaron Spelling, one of television's most prolific and commercially
successful independent producers, died at age 83.

Spelling was revered by some for his natural ability to predict what
the country wanted to see. However, he was criticized by others for appealing to
the lowest common denominator by using nepotism to hire marginally talented family members ushering in an era which gave us Latoya Jackson, Adam Baldwin,Shawn Wayans, and Frank Stallone.

AP - Robert DeNiro and his company Tribeca Film are producing a biopic of, and starring, rapper Missy Elliot. 

DeNiro has announced his excitement about producing the film, stating that Missy’s story needs to be told, that she’s an icon of her era in music, and that it will help him meet more "Black Chicks."

The Associated Press reports that another Chicago school district decided that all students in extracurricular activities would be held accountable for what they post on blogs and social-networking sites. They also must sign agreements stating that evidence of “illegal or inappropriate” behavior posted on the Internet could be grounds for disciplinary action. Teenage boys in the district breathed a collective sigh of relief when an addendum was added stating: “Masturbation not included!”

A suburban Chicago teenager is facing felony harassment charges for threatening the life of a school official on MySpace.com.

Though the threat was posted at the beginning of the year and only recently discovered, the teen added as he was being taken into custody, “At least I’ll finally be added into someone’s Top 8.”
