Biography:

34 year old, outcast with plenty of gusto and love. I was raised Jehovah's Witness, something that influences you when it comes to telling the truth. I'm African-American, although I fit in just about nowhere besides a Wynton Marsalis or Will Smith concert, you know, real folks. Have yourself a merry day, and forgive me, please, when I don't hatch the golden egg. Peace.

A Heartwarming story from Pakistan

Submitted: Jul 20, 2008
Category: News

The Edhi foundation, (according to The Christian Science Monitor), run by Abdul Satter Edhi and Bilquis Edhi, have been saving abandoned children's lives for many years in the Karachi region of Pakistan. Over a period of around 30 years, together, they have helped over 16,700 children find havens and homes. Even they are not without enemy, as clerics have threatened them in sending Muslim children to Non-Muslim homes. Reminds me of a scripture where it says "foolishness has been put in many high positions." At any rate, I found their story welcome news because, if you're anything like me, it's easy to give up looking for good news in this region of the world. If the preservation of life had a religion, it would probably be called "what have you done for me lately."

Unprecedented Mediterranean summit

Submitted: Jul 14, 2008
Category: News

According to the Las Vegas Sun, 43 Mediterranean countries have met and vowed to free the Middle East of weapons of mass destruction. Among the mass of countries represented were Presidents Bashir Assad of Syria, and President Ehud Olmert of Israel. There were several snubs and chilly shoulders, as is the case between Syria and Israel, long time foes, as well as Algeria and Morocco, but it's a pledge, a good one, of unity. It's not clear yet, how this will be enforced, but the aims are ambitious, including communal colleges for all and clean-ups of the Mediterranean. The meeting was chaired and co-chaired by Presidents Sarkozy and Mubarak respectively. No word on how much olive oil was used to feed the committee, but if only their diets could speak, I'm sure there would be no disagreements.

Mets singing winning overture

Submitted: Jul 14, 2008
Category: Sports

So the Mets have an 8 game winning streak huh? I think that's wonderful. Of course, they just beat up on the hapless Colorado Rockies. Let's see them kick some pompous Brave butt, after the all-star break, and then they'll be giving me something to talk about!

Even freedom is used as a weapon

Submitted: Jul 14, 2008

Has someone ever put their ego up so far you couldn't reach it, but they were such a part of your life you couldn't ignore it? I have a roommate that I don't get along with, just because. You know, this could be what most altruistic nations are afraid of. Doesn't freedom of speech seem to warrant a certain war of convenience, where someone dares you to do something and you can't stop them, as if somehow disagreeing with them is holding them back? It's times like these when freedom doesn't seem like such a valuable commodity. Perhaps a regulated socialist atmosphere could downturn the perks of being a piss-off. I know I'd certainly like that.

Euphemism's delight

Submitted: Jul 12, 2008
Category: Sports

From the deep, deep grapevyne, word is Karl Malone fathered a child who is now a draft pick for the Buffalo Bills. Incredibly, he was raised by a woman who was then 12 years old. Demetrius Bell is now a draft pick of the Buffalo Bills. Turns out Malone, who was then 20, delivers more than just the mail. Gotcha, because that's also a euphemism. Asked about his origin, Demetrius says: "I just treat it like my mother went to a sperm donor..." Nothing like running in a pair of fresh shoes to know they fit.

Bernie is "off-color," but no bones about it

Submitted: Jul 12, 2008
Category: Political

There is so much talk in the media about Bernie Mac and a joke that didn't go over well during one of Presidential hopeful Barack Obama's campaigns. I think making a big deal over it alone is funny. Just thinking of what happened to Mel Gibson and lately, Kanye West and others highlights careers have ups and downs. It's no big deal. If everything Bernie says went on the fly, then he'd be investigated for tax evasion or something. Like an old friend told me, that's life. This explains the inexplicable, I'm sure everyone can understand.

Firecrackers ain't supposed to be this loud!

Hey eerybody! Hey, drop me a line if you're also dying and going to M-80 heaven tonight! Like the pit bull, M-80's are fast becoming the firecracker of choice. The birth of our country will also be notorious for the black cadillacs we will be seeing tomorrow.

Wishes are often better unfulfilled

Mauricia Grant, a former NASCAR official, is suing the racing mogul for $225 million dollars. She claims racial and sexual discrimination. Now, don't get me wrong, I myself am African-American and have experienced prejudice and other presumed blanketing sentiments. However, one has to remember, it's competition, real cut-throat competition, and people are going to use what works. Even she says she loved it. If only we could change people's heart conditions, that would be a "lawsuit" that would leave everyone feeling good. Don't be surprised if Grant's $225,000,000 lawsuit does more harm than good. Seeing a black person on the staff could turn sticky fingers into stingy fingers. Not all officials have advanced in reason far enough to know she does not speak for all of us. I mean, could you just imagine Hank Aaron short on perseverance? He'd also be 744 homeruns short and maybe even alone.

Why does President Bush respond to an appalling loss of life by sending more troops? Maybe the hockey industry should bring the Bob Probert t-shirt back!

Derrick Davis says:

Hi everyone. I'm privileged you came through to check me out. I'm not at my own computer yet, so my picture is not up. If I stick around long enough though, this will change, God willing anyway. So thanks for connecting instead with my soul. Peace.
