Today the girl was stripped of her title when it came to light that she had texted her opposition to gay marriage.

 Iowa State fair organizers have announced they have made a statue of Michael Jackson entirely in butter. Ironically, much like his face, the butter will eventually melt.

Iowa police are investigating an early morning assault in which a man accused another of being a zombie then punched him twice. Police said the assault occurred at 1:17 a.m. Sunday at a restaurant south of the University of Iowa campus.

A man was ordering food when another man approached him, called him a zombie, and then hit him in the eye. When the victim tried to call police on his cell phone, the man punched him again, breaking his nose.

The man then ran out a back door.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital… where he was pronounced undead on arrival. 

An umpire at a high school game in Iowa ejected over 100 fans from the stands after they became rude and unruly. The game was delayed for nearly 45 minutes as each fan took turns kicking dirt on the umpire as they left.

First case of domestic violence/gay bashing in Iowa reported shortly thereafter.

Iowa State coach Gene Chizik is taking the head coaching job at Auburn.  His first order of business is to update his resume in case he doesn't beat Bama. Charles Barkley immediately criticized his alma mater for the hiring, saying that Auburn only hired Chizik because he's white. We're shocked, because this was the longest the state of Alabama has ever gone without being racist.
 

For the second straight year, an unranked Iowa team knocked Penn State out of the BCS race. Joe Paterno was so upset, he even woke up.
 

In Iowa City, Iowa, a 54-year-old man has been charged with assault after getting into a broom fight with a cleaning woman. The problems began when the guy was awakened early in the morning by a woman cleaning the house. After yelling at her to keep quiet, an argument began which escalated into a fight with the guy allegedly pushing the woman and hitting her with a broom handle, causing minor cuts. So the cleaning woman returned fire by grabbing her own broom to defend herself, and then struck her attacker on the head! But police concluded that it was the guy who was the primary aggressor in the assault so he was charged with domestic abuse assault without intent, causing injury.
