Although the Obamas are the first to bring a Portuguese water puppy into the White House, they were not the first to consider it. Former President Bush once considered the same breed. Bush nixed the idea after deciding it wouldn’t be fair to the dog since he didn’t speak a word of Portuguese.

Vice President Biden on Sunday said his dog was smarter than President Obama's dog while speaking to schoolchildren at Bellevue Elementary School in Syracuse, NY.   President Obama retorted that both dogs were smarter than Joe Biden.

The back of  the first dog's baseball card lists his favorite activities as napping, yapping, and chasing a ball.  Coincidentally, these same favorite activities are also listed on the back of the Joe Biden baseball card.   

Politico.com reports that despite promising his daughters a new pet, Barack Obama said he doesn’t want a “girly dog” in the White House.  Ironically, this was also the line he used to talk people out of voting for Hillary.

The first couple and their daughters have been going back and forth on possible names. Among the two Mrs. Obama mentioned — and nixed — were Frank and Moose. The last two pooches, Jenna and Barbara, left in January.

The White House is reporting that the Obamas' dog Bo may have contracted the swine flu.  Apparently he will only roll over in the mud.   

 While President Obama is fighting the health care issues,  Bo the first dog will be fighting the health care issues for dog victims of Michael Vick!

An unnamed source is also reporting that the Portuguese water dog Obama picked for the White House  owes back taxes for money won in three 2006 dog shows.

The trainer is teaching Bo not to chew the furniture, wet the floor, nor slobber.  The trainer will next work on these same issues with Joe Biden. 

Michelle Obama announced that the family's first dog will arrive in April.  And so will a letter from House Republicans that says, "We love bipartisanship!  …. April Fool's!"
